In a significant development, five individuals were arrested in Ghaziabad for their involvement in a conversion racket. Based on the reports from Jagran, these accused allegedly targeted vulnerable, less educated families, many of whom had members suffering from serious illnesses. By promising financial prosperity and health cures, they lured these families into conversion. Following their arrest, the accused were presented in court and subsequently sent to jail.

During interrogation, the police learned that the five accused—Gerald alias Gerald Mathews from Graham Institute, Ashish Masih from Rajnagar, Rohan from Modinagar, Deepak Masih, and Ravi from Seva Nagar—were actively involved in attempting to convert families in Seva Nagar. The accused Christians, on September 23, were caught by the authorities while trying to convince several individuals to convert to Christianity in exchange for monetary aid and promises of healing from diseases.

Police sources revealed that the accused were receiving external funding to support their activities. They had established connections with individuals across various states through a WhatsApp group, which served as a platform for coordinating their manipulative conversion efforts. Most of the group members were allegedly engaged in similar conversion work, and they communicated via WhatsApp calls to avoid traceability.

Based on the reports from Republic World, the police have seized a mobile phone from Maseeh and are currently examining suspicious calls to uncover his connections with certain foreign-based institutions that are believed to be providing funding, according to DCP Surendra Nath Tiwari.

Although the accused attempted to delete the WhatsApp group in a bid to destroy evidence, they were unsuccessful. The police are now investigating the sources of funding and assessing how many people have already been converted to Christianity under the scheme. The investigation aims to uncover the extent of the operation and whether others are involved in supporting or participating in the illegal conversions.

This incident is a clear example of how conversion rackets operate throughout Bharat. Recently, a religious conversion racket was uncovered in the Moradabad district of Uttar Pradesh. The accused Islamists, a husband and wife duo named Mustafa and Hina, were allegedly running the racket under the guise of a sewing and embroidery center. Both Christians and Islamists often follow similar tactics, sometimes resorting to forced conversions through blackmail. It is commendable that the UP government and police authorities, through strict vigilance, prevented further incidents of conversion in Ghaziabad, curbing these unlawful activities in the area.
