जिस दिन सूर्या की दिन-दहाड़े चाकू घोंपकर हत्या की गई उस दिन ही मुख्यारोपी से सुबह के समय उसका झगड़ा हुआ था। पुलिस की शुरुआती जांच में यह बात सामने आई है। पुलिस के अनुसार सूर्या व मुख्यारोपी पहले से परिचित थे। दोनों अक्सर मिलते भी थे। बकरीद पर कुर्बानी दिलाने के लिए आरोपी ने सूर्या को बुलाया था। पहले तो सूर्या ने आरोपी से मना किया था। इसके बाद ईद की पार्टी और मुबारकबाद देने की बात कही। कुछ देर की बातचीत के बाद सूर्या आरोपी की बुलाई जगह पहुंचा। इसके बाद यहां आरोपी किशोर ने वारदात को अंजाम दिया। शनिवार की सुबह से ही पीड़ित परिवार के घर लोगों का आना-जाना लगा रहा। विश्व हिंदू परिषद, बजरंग दल, राष्ट्रीय हनुमान दल और हिंदू रक्षा दल के पदाधिकारी और कार्यकर्ताओं का जमावड़ा लगा रहा। भाजपा के पूर्व महानगर अध्यक्ष अजय शर्मा सुबह से ही परिवार के साथ सड़क पर बैठे रहे। उन्होंने परिवार को न्याय मिलने तक हर कदम पर साथ रहने की बात कही।
