8 flat units destroyed by fire; 20 fire tenders fighting the blaze

The fire department was notified about the emergency at around 8:30 AM. As of now, there are 20 fire tenders deployed in the region, fighting the flames on a war footing.

While the flames began in just one high-rise apartment, official sources have indicated that the blaze has already engulfed eight apartments. Although it is assumed that most of the people residing in those apartments have escaped the blaze before anything serious happens, the Uttar Pradesh Police has mentioned that they can conduct a final search of all the flats after they have cooled down sufficiently.

Challenges faced by operations

The teams are reported to face some major technical difficulties. The Uttar Pradesh Police has indicated that there is a boundary wall around the park, which is keeping fire engines from maintaining sufficient pressure to spray water on the upper stories of buildings on fire.

Evacuation and panic

Witnesses to the incident say that the sight of the blazing building created panic among the residents and led to an almost stampede like movement of the residents towards the stairs.

Loss of property: There are no casualties as of yet, but it is obvious that there will be heavy property damage, as many apartments have been destroyed due to the fire.
