Ahead of Raksha Bandhan and the festive season, the food safety department conducted a raid on a sweet storage and manufacturing facility in Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh. Authorities seized and destroyed one ton of adulterated rasgullas prepared under extremely unhygienic conditions. Visuals from the location showed sweet preparations infested with flies and insects. Initial findings revealed that starch was mixed into paneer to prepare the sweets, while chemical additives were allegedly used in the manufacturing process. Samples of the seized sweets and paneer have been collected and sent for laboratory testing to determine the extent of contamination and health risks. Officials confirmed that strict legal action, including potential cancellation of food licenses and police cases, will be initiated against the perpetrators based on the lab test results. The facility reportedly served as a central storage unit supplying contaminated sweets to multiple retail shops across the region.
